Dr. David J. Blyweiss is a pioneer in functional medicine, which uses the systems biology approach to manage and alleviate symptoms related to difficult-to-treat diseases by focusing on the underlying causes of the malady, and allowing the body to heal itself. He has been practicing medicine for nearly 30 years.
As nutritional medical knowledge has expanded over the last two decades, Dr. Blyweiss has been a leader in the fields of nutrigenomics, proteomics and other related orthomolecular disciplines that focus on patients' individual biochemical makeup.
Prior to earning his medical degree from the St. George's University School of Medicine, Dr. Blyweiss was a clinical pharmacist in South Florida. His experience as a pharmacist and as a doctor with conventional medical training allowed him to understand the benefits of standard pharmaceutical and surgical treatments. However, he also recognized where these methods didn't work in treating the majority of patients who suffer from chronic degenerative diseases known in Western cultures.
While earning his post-graduate degree at Temple University School of Pharmacy, Dr. Blyweiss was one of the researchers doing the early work on chlorhexidine, a chemical antiseptic that today is widely found in mouthwash and contact lens solutions. While earning his medical degree, he worked with the World Health Organization in vaccinating children in the islands of the Caribbean.
Dr. Blyweiss has traveled extensively, most recently to Gabon and Croatia working closely with teams of specialists to identify new plant life and natural products for possible human benefit. Since 1999, he has consulted for and created state-of-the-art nutritional supplements for multiple nutritional companies. His most recently formed Eden Laboratories Ltd. to do stem cell research and transplants in Belize, California.
What Dr. Blyweiss' Patients Are Saying
"Dr. Blyweiss is a doctor who enabled me to start understanding what the medical body encompasses. He cared about me as a person and answered all of my questions. I would describe Dr. Blyweiss as a "teaching" doctor. He wanted me to understand everything he was saying and clearly listened to me as a new patient. Additionally, I feel that Dr. Blyweiss wants to make sure we get to the "root" causes. Practical tools and great insights were given to me during my visit." - Randee
